Whitsundays Ceremonies
Commitment Ceremonies:
A Commitment ceremony celebrates the love between you and your same-gender partner. It will be your unique way of openly declaring your feelings for each other without the legal paperwork or wording. It may resemble a traditional wedding or reflect your flair for fantasy and ritual. You can include religious elements, favourite songs or poetry. It's your day your way.
Naming Ceremonies:
A Naming ceremony is a beautiful way to acknowledge and celebrate a birth. As parents you may choose to acknowledge the role of others in your child's life- grandparents, siblings, other relatives or friends. A naming ceremony is very much a time at which the involvement of other people in the life of your child or children, is recognized and encouraged. Will you nominate Godparents or guardians? The naming may be accompanied by rituals such as:
- Tree planting
- Release of butterflies or doves
- Guests fill a book with special wishes for the child which can then be handed to them on a significant birthday.
- Candle lighting
- Sharing a poem or song written for the occasion.
- Sealing a time capsule
- Contributions from guests placed in a Memories Chest.
Renewal of vows:
The Renewal of Vows is also called a Re-Affirmation ceremony. You may share a considerable history in your relationship. In crafting such a ceremony it is important to reflect on your journey and not only include your hopes for the future but celebrate the goals you reached. This may include children. Do you wish them to play a significant role in the ceremony? Your Renewal of Vows ceremony can be formatted to copy your original wedding, or the wedding you wish you had.
Do you wish to renew your vows as a celebration of the evolution of your relationship, or as a ceremony for people who were unable to attend your wedding? It will be your day your way.
Funeral or memorial:
The main arrangements will be done through your Funeral Director. You will be choosing me as a celebrant to listen to the story of your loved-one's life and craft a ceremony that reflects the special memories that you have of this person now deceased. Sharing this story with those present is called the Eulogy. While there is nothing inappropriate in terms of music, symbols or words that reflect that life, your loved 0ne will be departed in a dignified and meaningful way. Similarly you may approach me when your departure is imminent, to create the memorial you want.
